Superbly situated just off Kensington High Street, we were able to park immediately outside the hotel, having been saved a space by Billy, one of the three charming doormen, the other two being Colin and Tom.
As our rooms were not ready, we enjoyed a delicious lunch in the hotel's Chinese restaurant.
Unfortunately, after this, I became stuck in one of the accessible loos nearby and had to be rescued by a very sweet maintenance man. (there was no way to open the door from the outside). When our rooms did become available, I was disappointed to see that no waterproof wheelchair had been provided. This was rectified very promptly but the chair was not self-propelling and I had to be wheeled in and out by my mother who was sharing the twin room. Apart from this, oh, and the bedside table falling off the wall, everybody was thoroughly helpful and kind. The food in the Brasserie Restaurant was first class and most enjoyable.I am sure that the problems will be dealt with by the sympathetic duty manager. I may go back to check! Overall, the hotel seemed a little shabby but the helpfulness and kindness of the staff won the day.
