Eildon Holiday Cottages is on the slopes of the Eildon Hills in beautiful Melrose in the Scottish Borders. Category 1 (unassisted wheelchair access) with very special facilities & equipment for the disabled. Access easy and level throughout. Two of the cottages have ceiling tracking hoists. 4 stars. Magnificent views over the Tweed valley and Lammermuir hills. 40 mins from Edinburgh.
. We loved it and it’s clear that the owners do too. It feels like a secret garden, secluded and private – which will probably suit many of its visitors.
Although it is a short distance to a main road, there was no traffic noise from it, but we’d reinforce the need for a car. There’s only one eating place locally and, as far as we found, no shops. Though Almancil is very close, it’s either a car ride or walk beside a busy dual carriageway.
The villa is very well equipped. We used the small swimming pool almost every day and usually followed that by popping into the hot tub. There are accessible beaches nearby and, as long as it isn’t too rough, the lifeguards help wheelchair users in and out of the water with a buggy. Designated parasols and loungers are free for wheelchair users.
Steve, the owner, could not have been more helpful with lots of useful information in advance and books and maps at the villa. It was great to be met at the airport by the local manager and we did appreciate the welcome pack at the villa. I guarantee you’ll enjoy too.

We had a great time. The villa was well equiped, sited in a nice quiet location but still handy for nearby towns and restaurants. The adaptions made out stay so much more easier. Thank you very much for a great holiday, we are already thinking of comming back next year.

Thank you for all your help - we enjoyed our time there immensly. Both agree that it was the best holiday we've ever had.
Everything that we needed was catered for - you guys thought of everything - not only for someone in a wheelchair but for luxury extras that we felt gave a special touch. Didn't leave the villa the entire holiday except to buy food. Spent most of our time in the pool and in the hot tub. The meet and greet service was an absolute blessing. Natalie was so helpful and friendly and we were so grateful for her support.
We feel so lucky to have found such an ideal place irrespective of disability, for two people to have some luxury time together in such a place of paradise.
Back again Next year.
