On arriving at Blagdon Farm Cottages we were given a warm welcome from the owners. We were staying in the 5 star chaffinch cottage, one of two 5 star cottages out of a total of eight. The cottage was warm, very well equipped and there was plenty of space for me to wheel about in and for my 4 year old to run around, along with my wife and 5 month old. The cake on arrival was especially nice. The bedrooms were a good size, one twin and the master. The main living area consisted of a large open plan kitchen – dining – lounge, with stunning views overlooking the lake and the beautiful Devon countryside. The bathroom although not en-suite was excellent, large, wheel-in-shower, hand rails in all the right places and with the vast range of equipment for hire I’m sure all needs could be catered for. After a quick freshen up and a bite to eat we went to the Bar / Restaurant. We had a drink and chatted to the owners then rolled back to the cottage, not to late, as we needed to get the little ones to bed. During the days it was easy to be kept busy with wonderful villages and towns to visit, Widemouth bay was a beautiful spot not to far away. Our time at Blagdon was very nice and alongside great accommodation, onsite bar and restaurant, games room, course fishing, pleasant walks there was a swimming pool, that was great fun! The changing rooms were accessible, with showers and lockers. For those who need it there is a hoist, which can lower you in and raise you out of the pool. The pool water is kept lovely and warm and the air temperature was kept in the 90’s, so even after a dip I wasn’t going to get cold. On our last evening we re-visited the bar / restaurant and had a few drinks an excellent meal then back to the cottage for an early night. In summary, Blagdon farm is well worth a visit, with all of its facilities accessible, stunning location, friendly atmosphere and the whole of Devon and Cornwall on your doorstep you couldn’t ask for more.

I have just spent a wonderful 3 day break at Blagdon farm cottages. I travelled down from Norfolk on Friday 9th November 2007. I am not able to get out of my wheelchair so I took my son (my carer) and his family with me. We all had a good time even though my van broke down on the way there. I was not able to travel out too see the lovely Devon countryside because of that but it didn't matter as the place was lovely. The cottage was spacious with room for us all and it was well equipped. I especially liked my bed that had a memory foam mattress and a bed and foot lifter! We loved having a dishwasher,a microwave and a washing machine/dryer. The views over the lake were great and my 2 grandchildren liked feeding the ducks that came right upto our patio doors. In fact I didn't even have time to go to Freddies bar, nor did we get a takeaway as we loved the cottage, games room and hydrotherapy pool. The disabled equipment was fabulous and I loved the pool. It was lovely and warm and I was able to have a shower, wash my hair and get dressed whilst still being warm. I was lowered into the pool with the hoist and I was swimming for the first ti,e in 3 years. Even Felicity, my 3 year old granddaughter took her first strokes in the pool. We will go back soon. I want to swim again and visit Freddies bar, my son wants to fish the lake and teach his son to fish I may eveb have a go!!!
