Holidays for the disabled, Normandy, France with pool hoist

The beautiful farmhouse, Le Mesnil Gonfroy at Hambye has been made even more attractive to disabled visitors. So delighted have the owners, Brian and Sue Smart been with the comments received from recent guests that further substantial investment has been made to ensure that the house becomes even more accessible for guests in wheelchairs.

The beautiful private heated pool (10m x 5m) at the house has been fitted with an Oxford Dipper Hoist complete with chair and spreader bar. This hoist is really easy to use and should ensure that all their guests can now benefit from this superb pool. A gently sloping wheelchair path leads to the pool edge.

An Oxford mobile hoist is available too for use within the house as is a shower chair for the wheel-in shower. Electric beds, ripple beds and many other specialist aids can be made available on request.

The house is located within 1.5 hours easy drive of the ferry ports at Caen (from Portsmouth) and Cherbourg (from Poole) where Brittany ferries do several crossings a day all year round and provide specialist facilities for disabled passengers. Alternatively the drive from the Channel tunnel is only 3.5 hours making a short breaks an easy option. Even though the house can easily sleep 14 guests making it ideal for special occasions and family gatherings, the house is frequently used by groups of 2 or 4 people and discounts are available for such groups as are discounts on the ferry crossings.
